Appositives

An appositives is a reduction of relative clauses, which leaves noun phrases. Noun phrases are used to provide additional information on nouns intended before that phrase. Like the accompanying phrase which is enclosed in by two commas (,), this phrase is also enclosed in by two commas. An appositive will often appear at the beginning of a sentence, like the followin

“Dalam kalimat tersebut, The Canadian merupakan subject dari kalimat, dan rumpang yang harus diisi merupakan bentuk appositive. Maka, kita harus mencari bentuk kelompok kata (frase) yang berfungsi memberikan keterangan tambahan kepada subject tersebut. Pilihan C (One of the iconic train trips in the world), sebagai pilihan yang tepat, karena berfungsi memberikan keterangan pada subject (The Canadian).”

Pembahasan :

He is merupakan kalimat appositive dimana noun sebagai kata ganti. Jadi he is dihilangkan menjadi “I sad beside Mr. fahmi, a city policeman”

Pembahasan :

Setelah tanda baca koma fahmi bukan merupakan subjek. Fahmi adalah sebuah kata appositive karena masih perlu subjek lainya. Maka jawaban yang tepat adalah A.

Pembahasan :

He merupakan kalimat appositive dan untuk noun sebagai kata ganti dalam kalimat tersebut, maka jawaban yang tepat adalah “The first man in space, yuri Gagarin, was from rusia”.

Lala merupakan subjek, dan she is merupakan sebuah appositive. Maka jawaban yang tepat adalah “Lala, a prize-winning baker, loves to bake bread, cake and cookies”.

Fahmi : “ I may be able to “

Kosa : “ what does the man mean ?”

Jawaban yang tepat adalah A “ He is not sure whether he will go on the Mountain climbing “ because word may berarti jawabannya tidak di ketahui.

Pembahasan :

My mother merupakan sebuah subjek, dan appositive kalimat ini harus di hapus atau diganti. Yang merupakan appositive adalah it was dan menjadi jawaban yang benar “My mother lost her favorite ring, a gift from her great grandmother”

Pembahasan :

Jawaban yang tepat adalah B “(found in trace quantities)”, karena dari kalimat tersebut, diketahui bahwa yang masih kosong merupakan appositive phrase dimana digunakan untuk menerangkan subjeknya “uranium” sehingga jawaban yang dipilih yaitu jawaban B “(trace quantities” karena didalamnya tidak lagi mempunyai verb.

Pembahasan :

Jawaban yang tepat adalah B, karena kalimat tersebut sudah mempunyai subjek dan predikat ( complete sentence), yaitu “housecats have polyphasic sleeping patterns” sehingga bagian yang kosong merupakan appositive. Jadi, kata yang cocok untuk maksud itu adalah jawaban B, yaitu “Like” sehingga membuat “big cats” menjadi objek preposisi “like”. (Tidak dipilihnya D, sebab untuk menunjukkan sesuatu yang general. Apabila diisi oleh “The” maka pengertian dari “big cats” menjadi spesifik sehingga tidak lagi sesuai dengan konteksnya.
